Overview
Honeywell Sensepoint XCD RTD Fixed Gas Detector | Remote Toxic & Oxygen Gas Detection for Hazardous Industrial & Marine Applications
The Honeywell Sensepoint XCD RTD (Remote Toxic Detector) is an advanced fixed gas detection system specifically developed for the continuous monitoring of toxic gases and oxygen hazards in hazardous industrial and marine environments. Unlike conventional fixed gas detectors, the Sensepoint XCD RTD utilizes a remote-mounted electrochemical sensor, allowing the sensing element to be installed up to 100 feet (approximately 30 meters) away from the transmitter. This provides maximum flexibility for gas monitoring in confined spaces, concealed areas, elevated locations, or environments where direct access to the detector is difficult.
Built on Honeywell's proven Sensepoint XCD platform, the RTD combines intelligent transmitter technology with remote gas sensing to provide accurate and dependable monitoring while simplifying installation, maintenance, and calibration. The transmitter features a large backlit LCD display, tri-colour status LEDs, non-intrusive magnetic configuration, programmable alarm relays, and industry-standard 4–20 mA analog output with optional RS485 Modbus communication for seamless integration into plant safety systems.
The Honeywell Sensepoint XCD RTD is widely used in marine vessels, offshore platforms, chemical plants, oil & gas facilities, wastewater treatment plants, power stations, food processing industries, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and other hazardous industrial locations where continuous toxic gas or oxygen monitoring is essential for personnel safety and regulatory compliance.
Its remote sensor capability enables engineers to install the sensing element exactly where hazardous gases are most likely to accumulate while positioning the transmitter in a safer, more accessible location for operation and servicing. This innovative design significantly reduces maintenance time, improves safety, and lowers the total cost of ownership.

Why Choose Honeywell Sensepoint XCD RTD?
The Honeywell Sensepoint XCD RTD is designed for facilities where toxic gas or oxygen monitoring must be performed in locations that are difficult to access, confined, or hazardous. Its remote sensing capability provides greater installation flexibility while allowing maintenance engineers to access the transmitter safely and efficiently.
Unlike conventional fixed gas detectors with integrated sensors, the XCD RTD enables the sensor to be positioned at the ideal gas detection point while the transmitter remains accessible for configuration, diagnostics, and servicing. This improves maintenance efficiency without compromising gas detection performance.
Backed by Honeywell's expertise in industrial gas detection, the Sensepoint XCD RTD delivers dependable monitoring, advanced diagnostics, and seamless integration into plant safety systems, making it a trusted solution for marine, offshore, oil & gas, chemical, utility, and manufacturing industries.
Working Principle
The Honeywell Sensepoint XCD RTD uses a remote electrochemical sensor to continuously monitor the surrounding atmosphere for toxic gases or oxygen concentration. The sensor generates an electrical signal proportional to the detected gas level, which is transmitted to the XCD transmitter for processing.
The transmitter displays real-time gas readings on the LCD and sends measurement data to connected PLC, SCADA, DCS, or Fire & Gas systems through 4–20 mA analog output and optional RS485 Modbus communication. If gas concentrations exceed preset alarm thresholds, the detector activates visual indicators, alarm relays, and communication outputs for immediate response.
